Billy’s enthusiasm for history and great food combined with his humor made for a fantastic tour! He obviously likes what he does.
Manhattan Walking Tour is perhaps the best way to get to know Hell’s Kitchen in an afternoon. The tour took us to a number of different eateries in the area, but also told us all the great stories of the local Irish gangs of the past, colourful characters like Dutch Fred and Mickey Spillane, and interesting facts like the reason why there are no high rises along this part of 9th Avenue.
The guide, Nancy, clearly knew her subject and gave us lots of tips for eating and drinking out in the area. We also did the extended Central Park tour with her, which was also lovely. Central Park is worth a visit anyway, but having a guide to point out all the interesting details and features makes the experience so much more enjoyable.
A straight five out of five for Nancy and the Manhattan Walking Tour company!
What can I say? Just can’t recommend this enough!!! We were shown around by Alex, a great personality, full of knowledge about New York and a genuinely friendly and warm person to be with. Nothing was too much trouble for him and the way he guides you is just brilliant – lots of little stories and great places. The food was unbelievable, just make sure that you arrive hungry as the amount of food on offer is immense and extremely tasty! I have told all my friends and family to use this company when they visit New York, the fact that a max of 8 people are on the tour is just brilliant as you are part of a small group and feel like you are being shown around the city by a friend rather than a tour guide. Keep up the great work..
My friends and I had an amazing tour through Hell’s Kitchen and Central Park. We’ve all been to NY prior to this visit, but Nancy did a terrific job filling us with new and interesting information. Very much worth it.
Did this tour when I visited NY from Sydney with a friend who lived in NY. Our guide Annabel was very knowledgeable about the neighbourhood as well as the food locations we visited. I found this thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and was a bonus that it ended up being only the 3 of us.
Garry and his staff are top notch. My friend and I were looking for a small guided tour of the food and nooks and crannies of Manhattan areas. This tour checked all our boxes. Annabelle was great. Passionate about the city, well versed in current and historic information about all of Manhattan. The Tour was just the right speed and length. With such a small group it makes for easy adjustments. We had 5 or 6 food stops which left us full. Loved Greenwich Village. We learned more about Manhattan in one day than in all the years I have visited. You will like seeing the city in small blocks than on those silly double decker buses. Liked it so much we are booking another tour in November. Central Park, Hell’s Kitchen and Times Square.
P.s. Annabelle sent a lovely follow up email with a list and description of all the places we visited AND answers to any questions she didn’t have answers to. Now that is service!
Thanks Garry, Thanks Annabelle
Our personal tour guide, Nancy was fabulous! We were treated to yummy mini meals at 4 stops in “Hell’s Kitchen.” The food was excellent, the pace was perfect and it was fun to learn about the history of the area. Highly recommended!
I really love this tour and the guides! Been to every single one! Full of knowledge when it comes to history and food.
NY is certainly to big to ‘do’ in one trip. But this tour was a great way to navigate the High Line line and Greenwich Village. We tried so many different foods, we were all stuffed by the time we were through. Jillian is a great guide and knew all the little secrets of the history of the area we toured. Very interesting.
Our tour guide, Jillian, was incredible! It was my first trip to New York City and she made it an absolutely wonderful visit! I would HIGHLY recommend her tour as the food, sights and her fun side stories were so fantastic.
